The cover photo is taken by my wife in the park, featuring a Shiba Inu that is small and cute. I hope to have my own puppy in the future.
Heart Traces and Shadows means that the footprints of the soul flow with the shadows, recording, tracing, and contemplating one's inner world. At the same time, I recommend interesting information I come across every week.
Heart Traces and Shadows is the third platform where I write a weekly newsletter. I won't be tinkering anymore and will focus on content. This time, I combined two weeklies that I have been following. From now on, this weekly will be updated every weekend, including my thoughts of the week, books, movies, music I've watched, good articles from various platforms, and more interesting content.
On xlog, I will update articles related to technology or skills, with an irregular frequency.
With the release of this new weekly, I hope to maintain focus, read more books, watch more dramas, do more exercise, and spend less time on TikTok, Xiaohongshu, and other platforms that provide short and quick information. I want to build my own information barrier that is not influenced by algorithms.
Two Busy Months#
During these two months, I didn't have the energy to invest in my two projects. The workload increased due to the departure of my frontend colleague in the same group, and I also had to oversee the renovation on weekends. Fortunately, I have moved into the new house at the beginning of this month. The new home is very comfortable without any disturbance from elders.
New Toys#
It's really comfortable to have a world for just the two of us without elders. I finally got the two toys that I have always wanted. One is a NAS, and the other is a new computer.
NAS#
The main purpose of getting a NAS is to organize my audio and video library. I used to use public libraries and Infuse to mount Alibaba Cloud Drive. The former is slow in loading, searching, and other operations due to network issues, while the latter requires purchasing both Infuse and Alibaba Cloud Drive memberships. Moreover, the resources are not guaranteed to be available on the cloud drive. So, I decided to set up a NAS.
I chose the Z2Pro from G-Technology for the NAS. Its G-Drive is very suitable for novices and those who don't like to tinker. With the help of PT, almost all common TV series and movies can be downloaded. G-Drive will automatically scrape the covers and arrange them by year. You can also download the G-Technology app and log in to your account to watch the resources stored in your NAS on your phone or computer outside. It's great to watch an episode of Loki before taking a nap at noon.
I have also considered privacy issues and the possibility of the manufacturer going out of business. Now, I can create an offline account, so even if the manufacturer goes out of business, I can still watch the resources at home, so it's not a big problem. At that time, I can also explore other solutions.
Seaside House#
The previous computer was assembled by myself six years ago, with an 8th generation U processor and RX580. The motherboard broke two years ago and couldn't be repaired, so it has been idle. Now, I directly set up a configuration of 13400f + 4060 in the new house, so that I can play games that I couldn't play on consoles (mainly League of Legends and Chess) and have some entertainment after work.
I just finished watching the S13 Finals. DaFei is still amazing. At the age of 27, with no scandals or girlfriends, he is fully dedicated to League of Legends. There's nothing more to say about him winning the championship.
Recommendations#
This week, I didn't have much time to browse because I was mainly working on this weekly project. Starting next week, I will start compiling and selecting content for Cubox. For now, let me recommend some channels and podcasts that I have been listening to and watching recently.
- Tech Chat with Xiaoma (available on various podcast platforms, I usually listen on Spotify)
- Big Ears TV - YouTube (Unique perspectives on evaluating tech products, and their vLogs are also great)
- Game House on a Certain Day (A successful gaming channel)

- Currently reading: Literature and Education | "Allowing Yourself to Be Yourself" by Sha Bai

🎮 Games#

- Reliving the classics, it's still quite difficult to create a virtual warlord and try to unify the world.
It was because I bought the Xiaomi 13 last month that I read Lei Jun's "Thinking of Xiaomi's Entrepreneurship" to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Lei Jun's development from Kingsoft to founding Xiaomi. Lei Jun is a very pure businessman and engineer.
Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen 💛
